- Ovarian cancer is the deadliest cancer of the female reproductive system and fifth most deadly cancer for women because there is no early detection test and no cure.
- Each year approximately 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and about 15,000 women will die from the disease.
- When detected and treated early, the five year survival is greater than 90%. But, fewer than 20% of women are diagnosed in the early stages of ovarian cancer because the symptoms are often overlooked or misdiagnosed.
- Until there is a reliable early detection test, awareness of ovarian cancer symptom is a woman's best defense.

Teal there is a cure,
Nancy
Amazing post, Nancy...thank you! I intend to copy this on TEAL printer paper and place it all 100+ mailboxes in our school...we HAVE to increase awareness to help other women.
ReplyDeleteI still remember the day that you were diagnosed...we were both in our 50's and well-educated and yet, even after many "talks" at your booth about all your crazy symptoms over the prior few years, never ever suspected ovarian cancer. We didn't know that it even had symptoms or what they were.
Please, everybody, spread the word...TEAL needs to have the same level of awareness that women have worked so hard for PINK to have. Because ovarian cancer is not usually diagnosed until it is already in stage 3 or 4, it often kills women before they even have a chance to fight back. Please cut and paste Nancy's post and pass the word!
p.s September might not be a bad time to make a small donation to NOCC in honor of Nancy!
Keep spreading the word ! Love, Joanne
